Privacy Policy

Galactic Overkill is a free game, playable in the browser, as an iOS app, and as a Discord Activity. It is built to need as little of your data as possible: there are no accounts of our own, no separate logins, and no tracking cookies.
What we store on your device
The game uses your browser's localStorage to remember a few preferences. It stores:
- Audio volume and mute state
- Display and accessibility settings
- Your career statistics and personal-best scores
- Achievements, daily/weekly challenge progress, and cosmetic unlocks
- Your equipped cosmetics and saved PvE loadout
- A flag noting you've seen the intro
- Your device-local blocked-callsign list
Your preferences, career history, scores, achievements, challenge progress, unlock history, and block list remain on your device. When you join a match, the identifiers for your currently equipped cosmetics and your selected PvE loadout are copied to the game server so the match can display and apply them; they are not retained after the session.
You can clear it any time by clearing your browser's site data or deleting the iOS app. Individual player blocks can also be removed from the in-game Settings screen.
Analytics
On the public website only, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-first and cookieless. It reports aggregate, non-identifying information such as page views, approximate country, and page-load performance. It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint you, and is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. The native iOS app does not load Cloudflare Web Analytics.
Gameplay data
When you play, the chosen username, ship appearance and equipped-cosmetic identifiers, selected PvE loadout, and any chat messages exist only in the game server's memory for the duration of your session. They are not written to any database and are discarded when you disconnect or the server restarts.
Safety reports
If you report another player, we receive the reporting and reported players' names and room-session identifiers, the game-room identifier, and the free-form reason you enter. The live room keeps only an in-memory count of independent reporters. Three independent reports against the same connected player automatically replace that player's callsign and disable their chat for the rest of that room session. This state is discarded when the player leaves or the server restarts.
Each accepted report and automatic action is also written to the server's ordinary structured operational output, which is subject to the hosting provider's normal log rotation. We do not maintain a report database, permanent moderation history, or ban profile, and report data is not used for advertising or tracking. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
iOS app: Game Center and purchases
In the iOS app you can optionally sign in to Apple Game Center. When you do, your best match results and earned achievements are submitted to Game Center under your Apple ID — that data is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy; it is not sent to our servers. The app keeps your Game Center player identifier only on your device so one local career cannot be mirrored into a different Game Center account. If you skip Game Center, the game works exactly the same.
The optional Supporter Pack in the iOS app is processed entirely by Apple's App Store. We receive no payment details or personal information from a purchase; the unlocked cosmetics are stored only on your device.
Discord Activity: your Discord profile and purchases
When you launch Galactic Overkill as a Discord Activity, Discord asks for your permission and then shares a few profile details with the game: your Discord user ID, username, display name, and avatar, plus the list of people in your voice channel. We use these only to set your in-game callsign, show avatars, and display who's in the activity with you. Like the web username, this information stays in the game and lobby server's memory for the duration of your session and is not written to any database.
To start an Activity, your browser passes a one-time Discord authorization code to our server, which exchanges it with Discord for a temporary access token used only to confirm your identity. We do not store that token or your Discord credentials, and the participant list is provided live by Discord. Avatars are loaded from Discord's content servers.
The optional Supporter Pack in the Discord Activity is sold through Discord's in-app purchases and processed entirely by Discord — we receive no payment details. Whether you own it is confirmed through Discord's entitlement system (so it follows your Discord account across devices); the unlocked cosmetics are stored only on your device.
Your use of Discord, and the data Discord collects, are governed by Discord's Privacy Policy.

Galactic Overkill is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children. A parent or guardian with a question about a safety report can contact [email protected].
