Play Galactic Overkill on Discord
A free space shooter that runs inside a voice channel. No install, no account, no leaving the call.
Most "Discord games" are a bot that posts a board in a text channel. This is not that. Galactic Overkill is a Discord Activity — the game renders inside Discord, in the call you are already in, and everyone in the channel is flying in the same arena while they talk. It is the same game as galacticoverkill.com, on the same servers, against the same players.
Open it in DiscordOr play in your browser
How to start it
- Join a voice channel in any server you are in.
- Open the Activity launcher — the rocket icon in the call controls.
- Pick Galactic Overkill. It opens in the call.
- Everyone else in the channel taps the same Activity and lands in your arena.
There is no join code and no lobby list. The voice channel is the lobby: two people who launch it from the same channel compute the same room, so the group you are already talking to is the group you are already fighting.
What you get in the call
- Players — up to 15 in one free-for-all arena, bots fill empty seats
- Modes — free-for-all deathmatch, co-op wave survival, and Galactic Conquest territory control
- Callsign — filled in from your Discord name; nothing to type
- Clients — Discord on desktop, on the web and on mobile
- Match length — a few minutes, so it fits between whatever else the call was for
- Cost — free
Why a voice call is the right way to play it
Galactic Overkill has a mechanic that only works when people can talk. Reach three kills and you become the bounty: the whole arena is told who you are, you take fifty percent more damage, and you are worth bonus XP to whoever ends you. In a silent public lobby that is a difficulty spike. In a voice channel it is six people deciding out loud to hunt one of their friends.
The same is true in the other direction in co-op wave survival, where a squad shares one pool of team lives — one reckless pilot is not losing their own run, they are spending everyone's, and there is no version of that which is not funnier with a microphone.
Common questions
Is Galactic Overkill free on Discord?
Yes. Every mode, every weapon and every map is free, and there is nothing to install. The only thing you can buy is a Supporter Pack of cosmetics, which changes how your ship looks and nothing about how it flies.
How do I start an Activity in a Discord voice channel?
Join a voice channel, open the Activity launcher — the rocket icon in the call controls — and pick Galactic Overkill. It opens inside Discord, in the call, for everyone who joins it.
Do Discord Activities work on mobile?
Yes. Galactic Overkill runs in the desktop app, in Discord on the web and in the mobile app, and it ships touch controls, so a phone in the call is a real player rather than a spectator.
Does everyone in the voice channel play together?
Yes. The channel is the lobby: everyone who launches the Activity from the same voice channel computes the same room and lands in the same arena, so nobody has to read a join code out loud.
Do I need a Galactic Overkill account to play on Discord?
No. There is no Galactic Overkill account to make anywhere — on Discord your callsign is filled in from your Discord display name, and that is the whole sign-up.
How many people can play at once?
Up to fifteen pilots share a free-for-all arena. A smaller call still gets a full match — bots fill the empty seats and leave as real players arrive.
Not on Discord right now?
The same game runs in any browser at galacticoverkill.com with nothing to install, and as a native iPhone and iPad app. All three share servers, so a friend in a Discord call, a friend on the website and a friend on a phone end up in the same arena. If you are new to it, the controls and weapons guide is the fastest way to stop dying in the first thirty seconds.
